While the team was unable to break into the top ten for the first time, Juho Hanninen ensured that Hyundai came away from Rally Sweden with its first silverware after becoming the latest winner of the Colin's Crest Award.
The award, named after the late Colin McRae, is awarded to the driver who is able to travel the furthest distance over the Vargåsen jump, with Hanninen managing to leap 36 metres at the wheel of his i20 WRC. In what was his first outing in the car, Hanninen had looked good to score points through the opening day and a half before being forced to retire on Friday afternoon with damaged suspension.
Returning under Rally 2 on the final day, Hanninen was not only able to take the Colin's Crest Award but also fought back into the top 20 overall and said he felt there was more pace still to come from Hyundai's all-new car.
