KLM has extended its social media services to enable passengers to pay for flights, seat reservations and checked baggage via Facebook or Twitter.
Previously, passengers were able to book such services through social media channels, but payment had to be taken over the phone.
KLM said the move came in response to passenger demand, with customers regularly indicating that they would like to pay online through social media.
The service works by the airline sending a link to the customer via a private message on Facebook or Twitter. The customer selects their preferred method of payment and completes the transaction.
A message is then sent to a social media service agent at KLM to say that payment has been received, and the customer in turn receives confirmation of the payment.
