Samsung has unveiled a new LED Smart Bulb that is user-customizable via Bluetooth.
By using Bluetooth instead of Wi-Fi, the Smart Bulb doesn’t have to use a wireless bridge or access point (and we’re also assuming that it probably consumes less power as well). Using Samsung’s app, the user can control up to 64 bulbs at once from their smartphone or tablet.
The Smart Bulb can be dimmed down to 10% of its normal output. It is also CCT tunable from 2700K to 6500K giving the user control over the color of the light the bulb produces. The Smart Bulb has a life of 15,000 hours working out to about ten years of use per bulb. For comparison, most “dumb” LED bulbs have an average life of about 25,000 hours.
